SnipShot is streamlined - there are only five tools to choose from (undo, resize, crop, rotate, adjust), so your choices are limited. But SnipShot is not about complicated; this is a barebones graphics editor for when you just need to smallify that overwhelmingly huge pic of Tom Selleck for your fan blog. Snipshot also allows you to save your image in a variety of forms: .gif, .jpg, even to your Flickr account.

I’ve been staring at the iDJ2, and noticed there’s no nudge controls … you know, the thing that lets you simulate a spindle-twist or a finger on the platter to momentarily speed up or slow down a track that you’re beatmatching to another track … these are absolutely critical tools to beat matching … Oof. To come within 99% of solving all of the criticisms of the original iDJ, and then fall on your face for the last 1%… that’s a shame.

VJ: Audio-Visual Art and VJ Culture
D-FUSE. Laurence King, 2006.
A major change has taken place at dance clubs worldwide: the advent of the VJ. Once the term referred to the video jockey who introduced music videos on MTV, but now it defines an artist who creates and mixes video, live and synced to music, in clubs or at concerts. This book is an in-depth look at the artists at the forefront of this amazing audio-visual experience. The book combines how-to, showcase and reference elements, opening with a series of articles on contextual and historical issues. The central section showcases the work of a wide selection of international VJs, and the last chapter covers equipment (hardware and software) and typical stage set-ups (explaining equipment, the use of space, how to create an environment to suit an audience, and more) along with supplementary guidelines and tips on how to master a performance.

Most Visual Novels have multiple storylines and many endings; the gameplay mechanic in these cases typically consists of intermittent multiple-choice decision points, where the player selects a direction in which to take the game. This style of gameplay has been compared to the Choose Your Own Adventure novels. Most, however, strive for a higher level of plot and character depth than the aforementioned series of interactive children's books. These can be more closely compared to story-driven interactive fiction.

Chris Cunningham's first promo in 7 years is Sheena is a Parasite for The Horrors, a band that Chris picked off MySpace. The 1.5-minute clip, narrated by lead singer Faris Badwan, stars Samantha Morton as the song's manic, transmogrifying subject who whips around like a banshee and spews her intestines at you. Sharply edited and shot on a low budget, the video burns on the bass' running pulse, and provides more fleshy fodder for Cunningham fans.

Okay, so I signed-up for Droid's 'Bloggariddims' podcast thingy, then rashly offered to do one of the early ones (this is actually #2 in the series) without having a clue what form my podcast would take. So then I decided it wouldn't have any dubstep, or any current music at all, instead focusing on a few 'golden oldies'. But planning a proper continuous mix seemed like too much hard work in the time given, so then I thought I might try doing something like John Eden's 'RSI Radio', which operated at a 'John Peel' pace, but my own attempts came out shit.

Pole Com/position stems from the idea that Midi controllers tend to be small and there are no large, expressive gestures that correspond to the "sonic scultping" that takes place on the laptop. The core of the Pole Com/position sound installation is a pole dance that creates various audio effects. A pole dancer modifies the music by climbing and twirling up, down and across the pole. The DJ can respond to the music created, heightening the DJ’s and the dancer’s performance in the process.

Founding father Benjamin Franklin was more than a skilled negotiator, statesman, inventor/maker, and kite flying hobbyist. He was also an inventor of musical instruments. Musical sound from glass, and eventually wine glasses (thank you, Gallileo) came long before Franklin’s instrument. But the glass armonica (not to be confused with harmonica) is entirely Franklin’s. The instrument involves a series of glass discs, mounted around a cylinder, then rotated mechanically, so that you can play by touching the glass directly. It’s a much more compelling instrument than the later glass harmonicas, which used a keyboard; with the armonica, your touch creates the sound without any mediating apparatus. The sound is delicate and rich; no wonder composers like Beethoven and Tchaikovsky were enchanted.
